Buzzell Senior Center: Classes

A key part of the Elder Service Department is our Buzzell Senior Center. The center has an environment that is not only inviting, but also safe and enjoyable for elderly residents to be able to communicate with their peers and participate in many daily classes and activities. There are approximately 1,300 elder visits a month for participation in Senior Center programs.

Crafts

Seniors may join a craft class to learn or improve a variety of skills in needlework, wreath-making, or gift arrangements. Crafters also get together for camaraderie and idea-sharing while working, or to produce larger projects such as quilts. Many of the items made are for our Annual Crafts Fair in November.

Computer

There is absolutely no experience necessary for this painless introduction to computers. Here seniors learn how to enter the internet, write and send email, and surf the web.

Ceramics

Seniors select from pre-cast green ware for their ceramic projects. With the assistance of an instructor, they finish these pieces, learning about glazes and their attributes, and then fire (cook) them our own kiln.

Art

New artists learn about composition and color. Old artists join us to have the camaraderie of other artists while they work.

Wood Shop

The center has its own wood shop that includes every possible tool you could need for wood work. The class welcomes beginners and any advanced student interested.
